Description

Ferulic acid is an organic compound often used in anti-aging skin creams and serums. It's believed to neutralize free radicals, unstable molecules that damage and age cells.

Most studies of ferulic acid and sun damage have used it along with vitamins C and E, not by itself. Even so, it's believed to have protective properties on its own along with boosting the effects of other skin protectants.
Further studies suggest that the antioxidant activity of ferulic acid protects your skin from the sun's damaging UV rays.

Appearance: White to pale yellow crystalline powder.
Properties:
1. Antioxidant, scavenging oxygen free radicals.
2. Promote blood microcirculation.
3. Whitening and freckle removing, it has an anti-effect on endothelin ET-1, competitively inhibits the binding of ET-1 and its receptor to control the proliferation of melanocytes.
4. It has a good bacteriostatic effect, especially for Staphylococcus aureus, which can be added to cosmetics to reduce the usage of preservatives.
Application:
1. Soluble in hot water, diol, and ethanol.
2. Mainly used for whitening products, sunscreen products, anti-aging products, plant preservatives, etc.

Instruction of Formulation Application

1. Solubility：Soluble in alcohol（Butylene Glycol、propylene glycol, etc), and also soluble in oil
2. pH：4-5
3. Dosage：0.1~3.0%
4. Working temperature：Below 70℃
5. Aqueous phase：Dissolve in polyols to heat slightly, then add to water
6. Oil phase：Dissolve oil phase
7. Thickening system：Ion-resistant
8. Application suggestion：
a. Propylene glycol: Ferulic acid =25:1, first mix the propylene glycol and ferulic acid evenly, slightly heat to dissolve, then add hot water to 100, stir, cool and dissolve it to be completely transparent.
b. Butylene Glycol: Ferulic acid =20：1, first mix the butylene glycol and ferulic acid evenly, slightly heat to dissolve, then add hot water to 100, stir, cool and dissolve it to be completely transparent.
C. Dipropylene glycol: Ferulic acid=20：1, first mix the dipropylene glycol and Glycol salicylate evenly, then add water to 100, stir, cool and dissolve it to be completely transparent.
d. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride: Ferulic acid=99：1, heat slightly to dissolve and cool.
e. Vitis Vinifera(Grape) Seed Oil: Ferulic acid=99:1, heat slightly to dissolve and cool.

9. Storage recommendation：Store it in a cool and dry place. Shelf life is two years.
10. Cautions：
① Ferulic acid: Sodium sulfite=10:1, good antioxidant property, which can prevent ferulic acid oxidation and discoloration.
② You should protect ferulic acid from heat, sunlight, and oxygen, it is easy to be discolored and degraded in light, So make it away from the light is needed.
